Eleven Minutes is the story of Maria, a young girl from a Brazilian village, whose first innocent brushes with love leave her heartbroken. At a tender age, she becomes convinced that she will never find true love, instead believing that “love is a terrible thing that will make you suffer. . . ." A chance meeting in Rio takes her to Geneva, where she dreams of finding fame and fortune. Maria's despairing view of love is put to the test when she meets a handsome young painter. In this odyssey of self-discovery, Maria has to choose between pursuing a path of darkness — sexual pleasure for its own sake — or risking everything to find her own “inner light” and the possibility of sacred sex, sex in the context of love.

    💞Romantis

This book describes love between a man & a woman in a very vulgar and explicit ways possible. But it's deep, touching the base of your mind and your heart. Well, at least mine :p

What I've learnt from this book:
➡ Love is not about the act of intercourse (or money!), it's about the feel, the want, the need to make someone you love happy, even by not being together.
➡ Love is about letting go. Because none in this world is owned by us, small creature.
➡ God has plans and will give us exactly what we deserve, and it's all for the better.

Just like Maria's love for Ralf ☺

Its content was similar to Coelho's other works. I think this is among his top three books.

But what am I saying? In love, no one can harm anyone else; we are each of us responsible for our own feelings and cannot blame someone else for what we feel.

I am two women: one wants to have all the joy, passion and adventure that life can give me. The other wants to be a slave to routine, to family life, to the things that can be planned and achieved. I’m a housewife and a prostitute, both of us living in the same body and doing battle with each other.

She had felt petrified when she saw him coming toward her, terrified that he might realize how much she loved him, how eagerly she had waited for him, how she had dreamed of taking his hand, of walking straight past the school gates with him and continuing along the road to the end, where—people said—there was a big city, film stars and television stars, cars, lots of cinemas, and an endless number of fun things to do.
