Garréta won the 2002 Prix Médicis for “Not One Day”, given in recognition of authors whose “fame does not yet match their talent” (fellow Oulipien Georges Perec won the award in 1978; it was won in 2015 by Mathias Enard), considered one of the three most important literary prizes in France.
“Not One Day” is a landmark in lesbian, feminist, alternative, and queer literature, in English for the first time.
Member of the Oulipo, the French experimental literary group whose other members include Georges Perec, Italo Calvino, Raymond Queaneau, Daniel Levin Becker, Hervé le Tellier, Marcel Duchamp, and more.
