In I Am Not Strange, I Have Autism, author Ellen van Gelder gives a clear insight in the life of someone with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. She does this in 26 chapters, arranged from A to Z. Along with her own side of the story, she also includes stories of her 'fellow autists', who give their take on life with autism.

With these practical insights, I Am Not Strange, I Have Autism is an inspiring book for people with ASD who are looking for more balance in their lives, but also for partners, caregivers, family members, or others who want to learn more about an ASD. It gives a nice and clear insight in the being-different of ASD.

Ellen's book is a big hit in Europe.

Moving house is also a good example. After my last move it took me a year to update the pictures I had of ‘home’. It took the same amount of time before really experiencing my new house as my home

There are things I want to change continuously, and things I don’t want to change at all. There are things that change without me wanting to, and realising this change takes some time

I find it very difficult when things go differently than planned. It used to be much harder than it is now, though; now I take into account that someone might just cancel an appointment, or that someone might show up later, or not show up at all. Realising this makes my life a little bit easier.
