The last time I read this book was when I was 19 years old. I couldn't understand much about it. 36 years later, I read it again. Now it all made sense. I can identify with Gatsby and feel his anguish, hopes, fears and joy. Life is not about living a dream but making a dream come true and when that dream is fulfilled, you realised it is actually a nightmare. It's best to be pragmatic and lead a simple life, even if you're filthy rich.

The book shows the experience of being in love, in other means, how awfully difficult, messy and complicated it is. But in the end - if you love, you just do. Not being able with the one you love may be crushing.. Fitzgerald's gentle outlook and empathic words show the tragedy of the characters. Worthwhile.
