In 1962, Ken Taylor founded Tyndale House Publishers as a way of publishing his book Living Letters—a paraphrase of the New Testament Epistles written in everyday, easy-to-understand English. Thanks to an early partnership from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, the book became a runaway best-seller.
For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God’s Word. We publish Bibles in English and Spanish, and we have global partners who have used the NLT to create translations for distribution around the world. We also publish a broad spectrum of books from trusted authors to equip and encourage readers in their Christian faith. Our nonfiction books provide insight to renew the spirit while tackling life at street level, and our fiction from new and celebrated authors alike captures the imaginations of millions of fans. Today, we’re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God’s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.
Yet our vision reaches beyond publishing and extends to radical generosity as well. We pursue this vision by channeling the majority of profits to support other ministries around the world doing work with Bible translation, literature distribution, leadership training, education, discipleship, and humanitarian aid.
