What is Transcendental Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation, like most types of meditation, is meant to help your mind calm and settle. Most people have a mind that is constantly racing with thoughts and emotions. TM is about reaching a level of peace and silence without effort.

Stress is one of the main causes of many diseases of the mind and body. Health problems such as weight gain, cancer, inflammation, neuroses and many more have been directly or indirectly related to stress. Transcendental meditation nips the problem in the bud. It calms you down and takes away stress. Although it is not a panacea for all ills, transcendental meditation helps prevent many problems from taking root. As they say, prevention is better than cure.

Generally, transcendental meditation is done twice a day. If time does not permit, one can begin by doing it only once a day. People who are new to meditation are often apprehensive at first because they feel that they could make better use of their time.
