Tonight, everyone’s focus is on my art, but my focus is on her. She’s the most interesting piece in this entire room.

We’re still saying it as we kiss for the last time.

We’re still saying it as we hold on to each other.

We’re still saying it as we kiss for the last time again.

I’m still saying it . . .

“And I’ll love you forever. Even when I shouldn’t.”

I tell him I love him because I need him to know.

“I love you so much.” His voice is breathless and full of fear. “I’ll love you forever. Even when I can’t.”

“I want to thank you for letting me be your first,” he says. “And for being mine.”

“Auburn,” his lips are whispering against mine. “I love you so much.”

Maybe we don’t know love like an adult knows love, but we sure as hell feel it

Eyes that were once the brightest part of him but are now too defeated by an untimely fate that is slowly draining the color right out of them.
